- Gravel Overview >>
Gravel also called stone gravel or rock gravel is rock that is of a specific particle size range. Gravel is an important commercial product, with a number of applications. Many roadways are surfaced with gravel, especially in rural areas where there is little traffic. Globally, far more roads are surfaced with gravel than with concrete or tarmac; both sand and small gravel are also important for the manufacture of concrete. Usually gravel can be divided into many kinds such as river rock (cabble stone), crushed rock, crushed stone, fine gravel, lag gravel, etc.
- Gravel Classification >>
- Bank gravel: gravel intermixed with sand or clay.
Bench gravel: a bed of gravel located on the side of a valley above the present stream bottom, indicating the former location of the stream bed when it was at a higher level.
Creek rock: this is generally rounded, semi-polished stones, potentially of a wide range of types, which are dredged or scooped from river beds and creek beds. It is also often used as concrete aggregate and less often as a paving surface.
Crushed rock: Rock is mechanically broken into small pieces then sorted by filtering through different size mesh.
Crushed stone: This is generally limestone or dolomite that has been crushed and graded by screens to certain size classes. It is widely used in concrete and as a surfacing for roads and driveways, sometimes with tar applied over it. Crushed stone may also be made from granite and other rocks. A special type of limestone crushed stone is dense grade aggregate, or DGA, also known as crusher run. This is a mixed grade of mostly small crushed stone in a matrix of crushed limestone powder.
Fine gravel: Gravel consisting of particles with a diameter of 2 to 4 mm.
Lag gravel: A surface accumulation of coarse gravel produced by the removal of finer particles.
Pay gravel: Also known as "pay dirt"; a nickname for gravel with a high concentration of gold and other precious metals. The metals are recovered through gold panning.
Pea gravel: Gravel that consists of small, rounded stones used in concrete surfaces. Also it is used for walkways, driveways and as a substrate in home aquariums.
Piedmont gravel: Coarse gravel carried down from high places by mountain streams and deposited on relatively flat ground, where the water runs more slowly.
Plateau gravel: A layer of gravel on a plateau or other region above the height at which stream-terrace gravel is usually found.
River run gravel: Naturally deposited gravel found in and next to rivers and streams.
Gravel Production Line
Gravel production line is a stone dedicated production line of sand and gravel in buildings, roads, railways and other industries. Gravel production line includes gravel crusher, jaw crusher, impact crusher, impact crusher, vibrating feeder, vibrating screen, sand washing machine, and belt conveyor and so on. SBM gravel production line has reliable performance, reasonable design, convenient operation, high efficiency work. So gravel production line or gravel crusher plant is the ideal production equipment in sand making process, bedding material crushing, asphalt concrete and cement concrete aggregate processing.
Gravel Production Line Features
1. Our gravel production line is suitable for artificial sand making or processing hard limestone, granite, basalt, cobble and other aggregates.
2. It is applicable to power industry, building materials processing, road building, and construction industry and other fields.
3. Gravel production line output is generally 50-500 t/h.
4. The gravel production line can be fitted with dust removal plant to meet your different processing requirements.
- Gravel Production Line Workflow >>
- Big stones are evenly sent into primary gravel crusher such as jaw crusher by vibrating feeder (vibratory feeder) for coarse crushing or primary crushing. Then coarsely crushed stone materials are sent to the impact crusher or cone crusher for further crushing.
And then, the materials are transmitted to the vibrating screen through belt conveyor and classified according to their different sizes for customers’ requirements.
Last, the qualified stones are sent to the stockpile by belt conveyor. Those unqualified stones are sent back to the impact crusher or cone crusher by belt conveyor and crushed again. And dust removal plant or dust removal equipments can be assembled to the crushing machine to protect the environment.

- Gravel Production Line Performances >>
- 1. SBM gravel production line is of high automation. Except the startup, shutdown and routing maintenance, the equipment can perform its duties automatically. Our gravel production line has the features of high productivity, low operating cost, and high efficiency, etc. The crushed stones are of equal size and good shape.
2. We can provide a complete set of sale service and arrange the work flow according to your work site.
3. Due to reasonable matching of crushing machines and compact spatial arrangement, our crushing and screening plant has the features of small floor space and high economic efficiency. The crushed stones are of high quality, and the output rate of stone powder is low.
4. Configuration of our gravel production line is in accordance with customers' requirements on specifications, productivity and applications of stones.
5. Meanwhile, our gravel production line is equipped with electronic control system which ensures smooth discharging, reliable performance, high efficiency and energy conservation.
